• Bring your insurance card(s), social security number and a photo ID, as well as your co-payment and/or deductible amount.
  • You will be asked to sign consent forms before your surgery.
  • If you need a signed excuse or worker's compensation excuse for an employer, please ask your surgeon's office to provide one.

Your Surgery, Step by Step

The following outlines the general information you will need to know before your surgery. Please follow all the instructions carefully to ensure that every aspect of your planned visit proceeds smoothly.

  • You must have someone designated to drive you home.
  • Do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before your surgery.
  • Take only medications prescribed for your heart, lungs and/or blood pressure the morning of surgery with as little water as possible. If you take insulin, bring your vials of insulin with you. Do not take insulin the day of surgery. If you have asthma, bring your inhaler with you.
  • Bring all medications you are currently taking or a list of medications and how often you take them.
  • Bring any items such as crutches, X-rays, etc., that your physician has indicated.
  • A nurse will evaluate your medical history and current medications.
  • An anesthesiologist or CRNA will speak with you and answer any questions you have.
  • Due to limited space, we ask that you bring no more than two family members with you.
  • Please have any pre-operative lab tests, EKG, etc., completed prior to the day of surgery.
  • Leave any valuables at home.
  • Remove jewelry, makeup and nail polish.
  • Wear warm, comfortable clothing.
  • Please inform any family members or friends planning to wait for you at the center to wear or bring warm clothing because the surgery center may be cold.
  • There is a lounge with a television and magazines along with vending machines in the building.
  • After your surgery, you will be offered beverages, but we do not provide food.
  • On average most patients stay approximately 30 minutes following surgery.
